■ About the founder Born in 1983, Noriaki Hirao is a three-time entrepreneur (with one liquidation), founding companies in entertainment, semiconductor and IoT fields. As a student, he studied space engineering, organic chemistry and marketing in the United States, then founding a content production startup for Hollywood films and video games. In 2008, after graduating from California State University's Northridge School of Marketing, he returned to Japan joining SoftBank Mobile and received several internal awards, including first prize for a sales contest by closing 800 national mobile contracts. From June 2010, he worked in the Business Promotion Department in charge of completing partnership (MVNO) contracts and engaged in the creation of various new businesses. Noriaki was also responsible for data analysis of customer information for signage terminals, which had 1.5 million users at that time, and was involved in the planning of new optional services. Concluding a 2011 joint development research agreement with Tohoku University, he established a technology licensing company for next-generation semiconductor industries (smartphone, solar, IoT, etc.) based on approximately 500 patents (investment: 6 Billion yen with the largest US semiconductor company and a major telecom carrier in Japan). In 2014, he joined Sircomm Japan, a Japanese branch of IoT ODM vendor headquartered in Taiwan. Noriaki founded Planetway Corporation in July 2015.
