Tõnu Samuel

Tõnu Samuel was one of the four core members of MySQL development. Developed overall MySQL's security, such as SSL connection. As a core member of the NASA Centennial Challenge Robot Project, he engaged in the development of robots to acquire samples on Mars and the moon. Together with the co-founders of Skype, he developed a robot, based on StarShip Technologies. He has advised the FBI in security related issues as a white hat hacker.

During the 1990’s he worked as a programmer at the Estonian Ministry of Communications for five years. He was engaged in development of various applications (dBase, FoxPro, Pascal and C, etc.)

In 1997 worked for the biggest Northern European bank, SEB (Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken), where he built an Internet banking website in half a year.

During the 2000s he worked as a programmer and CEO in several private companies and start-ups in various fields such as software development, logistics system, financial system, database, cyber security, hardware development, etc.

From 2011 to 2012 he worked as a developer at Kayak.

From 2013 to 2016 was a CTO at 16 lab. He directed a five member team developing software for the ring-type wearable devices. In April 2017 he was inspired by Hirao’s vision and become a CTO of Planetway.
